Church of the Holy Family
Parish Committees

Bereavement Committee
Upon request after either funeral or memorial services the Bereavement Committee serves various foods, soft drinks, coffee or tea at a reception in the church hall for those who wish to attend. We ask for a donation for the use of the hall. It is the responsibility of this committee, comprised of all volunteers, to set up the hall with necessary paper goods, foods and beverages provided, and to thoroughly clean up when the gathering has ended.

Chairperson: Bernice Barrasso

Compasion Ministry
The Compassion Ministry seeks to meet the needs of our community through friendship, comfort and care. Members of the ministry are volunteers who give of themselves to meet these needs. We are currently supporting people and families who are dealing with grief and loss or chronic illnesses. Confidential communication, companionship, education, meals and prayers make up our support services.

Specifically these include: the making and giving of prayer shawls, providing meal cards redeemable at Ted's Market, delivery of care baskets, sending notes and cards during the first year of grieving visiting, hosting grief support workshops, planning special masses and offering rides to church.

The Compassion Ministry meets four times per year and new members are always welcome.

Chairperson: Sue Smallidge

Flower Committee
Our committee works closely with Liturgy to create a pleasant atmosphere at church. It is our responsibility to decorate at holiday times and in ordinary time.

Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee plans and organizes events throughout the year to benefit the parish, including the Christmas Craft Fair. There are occasional meetings, depending what fundraisers we are working on. Whether you'd like to help with one or all of our fundraisers we'd love for you to bring your energy and enthusiasm and join us! It's a great way to enjoy some fellowship and to meet other parishioners without a tremendous time commitment. New fundraising ideas are always welcome!

Chairperson: Michelle Francoer

Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee serves the community in a variety of ways. Most popular, is the Donut Sunday, which occurs after Sunday Masses once a month or as space and scheduling allows. Members of Hospitality prepare this fellowship event and act as hosts.

Hospitality can also be called upon to help organize pot luck suppers and provide baked goods for various church events and activities. In general, members are called on no more than once a month.

Chairperson: Chris Turko

Interior Housekeeping
Oh, that dreaded chore, but so necessary. There is a group of dedicated people that vacuum, dust, wash windows and keep the Narthex lavatory in order. Keeping the interior church windows free of fingerprints is a huge undertaking. There is plenty of opportunity to do a little light kitchen cleaning in the hall. This is a wonderful opportunity for a family to volunteer.

Someone who occasionally swing a mop and remove the Narthex rugs to get the sand out of the, and in the warm weather clean the porch entrance of the Church is always needed & welcomed!

Before Advent and Palm Sunday the tall windows in the Narthex need cleaning inside and out. If you think you could lend a hand we'd love to have you!

There are no meetings for this committee. You work at your own time. Each assignment should take no more than forty-five minutes. If you feel that you can not make a weekly or monthly commitment, consider being a substitute. There is no set schedule. All supplies are provided. Many hands will make light work and the Church of the Holy Family will continue to sparkle!

Chairperson: Louise Sage

Knights of Columbus
The Church of the Holy Family Council of the Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization for Catholic men whose goal is to provide charitable and social activities to benefit both the parish and the community.

Our regular activities include the Maple Festival Breakfast, the Tootsie Roll drive to raise money to help the mentally handicapped, the Christmas food drive, the Mother's Day drive to support Covenant to Care and sponsorship of youth sport teams. We also assist other groups (such as Fundraising, TNT and non-parish organizations) in fundraising activities.

Grand Knight: Frank Policastro

Parish Planning Committee
The purpose and function of the Parish Planning Committee is to assist the Pastor in planning for the future of The Church of the Holy Family by:

  • Providing a forum for the prayerful discussion of ideas and plans for the physical expansion and improvement of the parish and it's properties; and for the spiritual growth of the community, in order to improve the ability of all parishioners to participate meaningfully in the sacrament of the Mass, and to follow the example of our savior, Jesus Christ, in their daily lives.

The Committee also acts as a conduit, assisting the Pastor to hear the needs of the parish community and to keep him informed of changing needs and requirements both within the parish and the diocese.

Chairperson: Jane Golino

Property Mangement
The Property Management Committee works directly with the Parish Sexton and the Pastor and is responsible for handling the maintenance and upkeep of the Church and Rectory properties. We welcome people that can help in the areas of lawn care, raking, spring cleanup, landscaping, snow removal, painting, heavy cleaning, and various contractor and handyman work. Come put your talents to work in any of these areas!

Chairperson: Barry Hanson

Social Outreach Committee
The Social Outreach Committee attempts to identify and respond to human dignity and justice needs within our community, our region and our world. We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. We organize efforts and events that enable all parishioners spiritual fulfillment in helping others less fortunate improve their humanity. We continue to seek new ways to maintain our parish's commitment to improve life for our sister parish in Haiti.

Some of the opportunities for service developed through our committee are:

  • Assisting with a monthly federal food distribution program
  • Managing the clothing and furniture drop off area at the parish garage
  • Providing various opportunities to prepare and serve meals at area soup kitchens
  • Working with various agencies in the area who assist and serve the needs of others, usually those less fortunate
  • Helping our liaison to the Department of Social Services with the needs of displaced families
  • Promoting and helping to coordinate the walks against hunger and the walk for warmth
  • Coordinating the Grant Program that distributes monies to area service agencies
  • Helping with one of the major annual events that raises monies to support Social Outreach programs
  • Committing to supply a meatloaf once a month for the soup kitchen meal

We believe that we are all connected to each other and that to have peace you must work for justice. Please consider joining our committee.
