Liturgy
Committee
Liturgy is the center and the focus of our parish
life. The term "liturgy" refers to the worship of
our parish community of faith. Our celebrations of the Eucharist,
the Sacraments, prayer services, and other forms of parish
prayer, such as Stations of the Cross, are all part of our
community worship and the liturgy.
The
purpose of the Liturgy Committee is to assist the pastor in
developing and evaluating our parish's liturgy, so that the
worship experiences of our parishoners are prayerful and meaningful.
The Liturgy Committee is composed of the pastor, chairperson,
and those who coordinate the liturgical ministries. The liturgical
ministries represented on the Liturgy Committee are the Altar
Servers, Art and Environment, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy
Communion, Greeters, Lectors, and Music. The parish member
who coordinates the scheduling of all these ministries for
our weekend Masses is also a member of the Liturgy Committee.
The
Liturgy Committee meets monthly to evaluate, plan, and implement
the worship life of our parish community. A study of the Church's
documents on the liturgy is an essential part of the work
of this group of parishoners. Communication and coordination
among the ministries helps our parish liturgies to be prayerful
experiences for the members of our family of faith.

Altar Servers
The youth of our parish have a unique and personal
opportunity to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist.
As assistants to the priest, they share in the celebration
in which Jesus gives himself to us in both the Word and the
Eucharistic meal. Parishoners, who are in grade six and up,
are welcome to take on the responsibility of this ministry.
Sessions are held every first Wednesday of the month from
6:00pm to 7:00pm. New servers may obtain information and instruction
at these sessions. Former servers may use the sessions as
practice or rehearsal of skills. To email for more information,
please click on the name of the coordinator below.

Art
and Environment
The goal of the Art and Environment ministry
is to provide a prayerful worship space that is in keeping
with the liturgical season and special feasts of the Church
calendar. Many elements are included in our parish's worship
environment: altar linens and vestments, the sacred vessels
used for the celebration of the Eucharist, flowers, fabrics,
and other items used to bring emphasis to the liturgical season
or theme, upkeep and cleaning of the church building - just
to name a few. The Art and Environment ministry needs many
hands to assist with the preparation of the church, particularly
at the time of major feasts such as Christmas and Easter.
All parishoners who have an interest in preparing our parish
home for our liturgy celebrations, are invited to participate
in this ministry by contacting the coordinator.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
The sharing of Jesus himself in the Eucharist
is the heart of the weekend worship at Church of the Holy
Family. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve the
needs of our parish community by assisting the priest in distributing
the Body and Blood of Jesus to the faithful. Parishoners are
invited to participate in this fulfilling and rewarding ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve during the
parish Masses on the weekend and during special feasts and
holy days. In addition, ministers may volunteer to bring the
Eucharist to those members of our parish family who are homebound
due to illness. Parishoners who are interested in this ministry
may contact the coordinator for more information.

Greeters
The Greeters are the official ministers of hospitality
of our parish. These ministers are often the first individuals
parishoners see as they enter the church each weekend. The
responsibilities of the greeters include welcoming worshipers
and providing hymnals, lighting the church, taking the collection,
and acting as giftbearers in the offertory procession. The
greeters also have special responsibilities during feasts
such as Advent, Christmas, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter.
Training for this ministry can be done in approximately one
hour and is at the convenience of the interested parishoner.
Families are welcome to participate together, and children
are welcome if accompanied by at least one adult. For further
information, please contact the coordinators.

Lectors
Lectors have the incredible responsiblity of
making the Word of God come alive for the Christian assembly.
The proclamation of Holy Scripture gives presence to God in
the Liturgy of the Word and serves as an instrument of His
grace. The Lector ministry is a way to serve God and our parish
community through prayerful preparation and understanding
of Holy Scripture, and the effective communication of this
message. Lectors read at Mass at least once per calendar quarter.
Lectors may also volunteer to read at special celebrations
such as those during Christmas and Holy Week. All parishoners
who are interested in this ministry are asked to contact the
coordinator for further information.

RCIA
(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The
RCIA or Catechumenate is the process for welcoming and initiating
new members into the Catholic faith community. It is a spiritual
journey of adults, which has its roots in the very beginning
of the Church. It was an integral part of the early Christian
tradition. Persons who were seeking admission in the Church
learned what it meant to follow Jesus through the example
and the teachings of the Christian community. The parish community
now shares its life with its new members and offers them support
and encouragement as they journey through the process. RCIA
meets on Sundays from October to April. If you are experiencing
a tugging at your heart to share your faith on a one-to-one
basis and you are committed, Confirmed Catholic (sainthood
and perfection are not required), please consider serving
on RCIA.
